Well for those that like to chase gills the bulls are up on the beds and feisty as ever! Water is a little murky right now for some reasons so you can only see the 25% up shallow enough to be seen but there are tons of them anywhere there is a sandy bottom. Would have to assume this is going on on other lakes as well. Seen some small mouths on beds as well even though many seem to be rapping up but they are definitely pestering the gills making both easy targets.

What lake are you at Dean?

They were in the middle of the spawn at Camels Hump when I fished it yesterday.

Me and the wife caught a lot of nice Pike this spring in there. Good opportunity for kids to go out and get some fish! That place has to be slimy and weedy by now. Cool pics!

Big J, the lake you fished in was Cottonwood Park Pond. The one he's talking about is Cottonwood Lake (Pond really) and is private.

The pike in the park pond would decimate the other place.

PS, you're pretty..

Second spawn?

Yes the gills already spawned earlier and if they are on their beds again and have eggs that means this is their 2nd spawn. They will spawn up to 5 times down south and less the further north you go.

Actually we used to have pike in here but the bluegills killed them off over time. With so many gills any fish that does not guard their eggs will fail.

The gills in here generally spawn 3 to 4 times a year with this particular time being the largest with another good go in early August.
