Those who run their own business what are some of the software programs you use to take care of payroll, invoices, bill pay, and others. I am taking over the family business and want to get my own software, since doing it how the old man did it isn't going to work for me.

Every situation is different but I hired an accountant to do payroll, quarterlies and taxes . It made life a whole lot easier and it didn't cost much. Bill paying was easy with a CC , I used a lot of consumables and shopped around for the best cash back offer and kept it paid every month. I used a cheap software for invoices.

Quickbooks
Sage 50
Wave
..... list goes on.

Quickbooks being the most popular imo; not nessarily teh best one

I will say just likey Davey---- if you can outsource the payroll --- your software will be cheaper and i think you would be surprisied at how cheap the payroll companies are. I would use a payroll processing company and if you have alot of employees use payroll leasing company to help with benefits lower costs with those benefits as the bundle with other companies. If you have less than 10 then yes maybe a diy.

Software companies all push for a monthly subscription fee. So be careful what you pick and make sure you look at the total dollar amount and what it will be after the intial few months..

My wife used quick books and did payroll and every thing. Pretty much taught her self how to use it and it was pretty easy. Never had the irs at the door so she must have done it all right. Had an account help with all the end of year stuff to make sure it was all in order

Then it comes down to what does your bookkeeper have experience using
Yes that is what she does now for the local hospital but they have their own software but I'm sure she will be able to figure out which software I end up getting.

I will also be getting a cpa to take care of the taxs, the girl who does my payroll/bills will itemize everything and send it to her. I will probably go with quickbooks since it seems to have good reviews online. Got my official tax ID paperwork with my business name, business checking account, ready. Just need to set up with everything else after the 1st of January.
