Hey all, first time turkey hunter here. Unit 30
Went out in the spring and did not get a tom but had luck calling some in within maybe 50 yards. Is fall turkey the same tactic? Keep quiet and call them in? Or is this reaping technique the way to go?

I do not have a blind to sit in, is that maybe holding me back?

Lots of questions, any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Shot my share of turkeys in the spring. Never sat in a blind and do just fine calling them in. I don’t hunt them in the fall.

Stalk. They won't really respond to calling in the fall like they do in the spring.

Scatter a flock of gobblers if the situation allows for it. They'll desperately try to regroup and often can be called in close.

I find a dirt bike (250cc or so) is the perfect tool for scattering these wily birds.

Cows, feedlot, nearby creek/wooded draw, hay bales.

Might be worth giving G&F a call and see if any ranchers have nuisance turkeys in their bales/feed-lots, especially after deer season. Get some snow and cold and they become fairly predictable.
