Lincoln, ND!!! Its friggen unbelievable what goes on out there on the fourth. Compared to Mandan there is no comparison. I think every person in Bismarck goes out there to light their fireworks.

Really? Have you been down to Marina Bay/ Lakewood area? Just curious cause that place is nuts. Problem down there though is with the flat ground and large cottonwoods and homes it is very difficult to see more than a select few "parties".

I always have thought that the best place would be the walking path on expressway bridge. Figured that should get you some elevation and have clear view of the Capital Show, Rodeo Show, and close to Marina Bay/Lakewood, as well as the sandbars south of Fox Island.

Guaranteed that location would allow you to watch $100's of thousands of dollars go up in smoke.

Having grown up in south bismarck I've seen the Lincoln area from afar and close up and yes they go bat shit crazy over there but that's true everywhere in the belt around bismarck city limits north to south. Used to watch the area from licoln over to below Mary and west to the river and it's a good show but not as good as up north. There are a couple groups up there that spend thousands on fireworks and attract hundreds of spectators on their own. Then add in the standard never ending wall of fireworks from the hundreds of other people and not one but two large scale displays put on by this citys and a nice sand beach with a bonfire and the river wins every time for me. Pretty much as good of a spot as you will find in ND to hang out on the 4th. This shot is from Pierre but is the same general setup.

I will second Dean. This is a shot of 72,000 bottle rockets going up at once, from near Hogue Island. One of my former co-workers and his brother go NUTS on the fourth, putting on a helluva show on the sandbar. I mean nuts...

If you look close, you can see some crazy people on the ground in front of the conflagration.

Yeah he puts on a hell of a show but I have to give the guy down a mile south on the west side the win last year! It definitely seemed like they were actually trying to compete with each other and the guy to the south had allot more big loud stuff. This guy must spend damn near as much as the city does to buy as much as he does.

I think they do compete. I know this guy and his brother, build "boards". 4 x 8 sheets of plywood that are all pre-wired, etc, and they carry them out and just light one end. They spend 10's of thousands. Fun to watch, not fun to clean up the next day.

Yeah I was the smart sober one last year that remembered to bring safety glasses. Nothing worse then staring up in the sky and getting burnt powder in your eyes from some drunk guy up the beach. The bottle rocket trailer was fairly impressive. ...done it with around 50 gross of them in a cutoff 55 gallon drum with some cannon fuse before but that's nothing compared to his.

I find fireworks pretty lame. If you ever been around serious explosives it is not the same. Besides most of the yoyo's that are shooting them off don't have any respect for fire hazards and others property.
