Cant really help you out to much with fishing but that whole area is beautiful. Venture up to Whitefish and over to Glacier if it is open. Still might be a bit early to drive the Going to the sun road. I'm sure there are plenty of trout lakes and streams to explore.

trout a plenty, when I went through that area on my bike you would see a truck or car pulled over next to a creek and someone fly fishing. I found out when they do that its when you drive by and see fish raiseing for bugs. people around there will slam there brakes on and cant get out of the vech. fast enough.

Flathead has a lot of lake trout and big ones... You will have problems getting your boat in beside all the Hollywood big talking heads though... Last time I was out there it was a great place (no one around) but I hear a lot has changed and LA has moved in... But if you can get in Rey and target some big lakers

If you are taking your boat take along about 300 ft of anchor line. This time of year the north end of the lake is the best for lakers. It's easier to anchor than trying to stay on your spot with a trolling motor, they tend to stack up so when you find them it can get fun. Ice melt is coming into the lake from the Flathead River and you need to fish the mud line. I've used cut bait just off the bottom on a 2 to 3 oz jig with a 3 or 4 inch white or pink tube bait vertical jigging. Be sure to ID your fish right, keeping a bull trout can cost you some cash in fines unless they have started letting people keep them. If towing a boat it's safer to go up 93 than MT 35.

OR you can go up to Lake Mary Ronan and fish for kokanee salmon, perch trout and bass. I've fished it in the winter but not the summer.

As mentioned Whitefish has lots of restaurant and shops, Whitefih Mountian has a zip lines, a alpine slid and a walk in the tree tops. Kalispell has a Cabelas Outpost and some shops downtown. Artist/ carver Jeff Fleming has his studio on Hwy 93 just a few miles south of Kalispell where he sells his original Bearfoot and Big Sky carved bears. It called the Bear Country Gallery.

Have fun.

If you head north toward Whitefish, swing into the Blue Moon bar, it's on Hwy 2 right between Whitefish and Columbia falls. Good food and drink, also there are a ton of animal mounts in there from the owner and his kids that they've shot. I think last time I was there (probably 12-13yrs ago) he'd just gotten his polar bear back, he's got a couple full body kodiak mounts as well along with tons of other critters.

Later in the summer (end of July) the Flathead cherries will be harvested and you'll find people up and down the highway on the east side of the lake selling bags or lugs of 'em. Went by years ago and we bought a lug of cherries for $22 and had them finished by the end of the week. Mmmmmmmm, biggest suckers you'll ever see for a cherry. Cannot imagine what a lug of Flathead Cherries cost these days!

I initially read your title as "Pposdoison" and thought the state took drastic measures. I'm thinking stock paddlefish...

Haha I read the article then looked at some pics of the lake and came to the conclusion my definition of algae growth is a little different then theirs.

Never got over there when we lived in the "root".
I think one of them is suppose to have a "sea monster" in the lake if i remember correctly. Heard it from quite a few Montanans out there.

For a real string stretching, there are large bull trout in Flathead Lake. There may even be a "no fish-no fee" guide service.
