Measure #2.....There is no such thing as a free lunch. The low-income households with children already get free lunches. This bill will only add millions of dollars to support to the socialist agenda. Why should every child, regardless of household income, get free breakfasts and lunches at the expense of all taxpayers.

Vote NO on measure 2

I agree, and it would be a constitutional change and permanent free breakfast and lunch funding forever.
Vote NO on measure 2

I’m voting yes. Every kid deserves the same damn meal each day in school regardless of whether their parents are responsible or not. Legislature could have easily solved it but they failed!!! Wrong way to do it, but I hope it passes as it should and will.

Said it before. When I taught, we went through the COVID era of free breakfast and lunch for all. I noticed a positive correlation. Yes, the low income kids get a free lunch. But the parents still have to do the paperwork. It was those midline kids whose parents were too proud or lazy to do the paperwork who saw the benefit. Those kids were the very, happy to have a breakfast. While not data driven, I felt like kids performed better in the mornings because of it. I believe the basic K-12 education lays the groundwork for success in life. If we can get those kids who are in poverty or on the verge a step up towards a better life, do it. We spend dumb money on dumber things. Pay now or pay later. Kids pay the price and the cycle repeats because of shitty parents.

No dog in this fight as I live in SD. Just perspective.

Why not. I don't donate enough to educate, bus etc other people's kids.

Right or wrong, this does not belong in the constitution. If this passes, to make things fair we also need to add to the constitution that whoever has previously paid for all their kids school lunches is guaranteed a buck tag every year.

I don’t think measure 1 has a chance. And shouldn’t. While I won’t be voting for measure 2 it had a solid chance because free shit. Yes they spend that much money on stupid shit but that won’t stop. This isn’t a one and done thing. It’s forever and will increase yearly forever.

Legislators get their meals paid for and they are there by choice, but they force kids to go to school until they are 16 years old and do not pay for meals? That is backwards. Take away the senators and representatives meal money and use it to pay for school lunches. Problem solved.
