Fuel economy devices?

Been eyeballing these things with the cost of fuel today ,couple different types one plugs into cig lighter my truck doesn't have the #1 thingamabob plugs into vehicle ECU port

Any input first hand knowledge appreciated. I know just another hoax or are they? I remember not long ago we were down loading chips that offered 3 stages of performance from fuel economy to Hp enhancement, at the time auto makers under federal/obummer pressure down sized the big 3 powertrains Hyper tech and Bully Dog were a hot commodity gasoline engines utilizing Hyper Tech chip on stage 3 boosted HP up another 105 Hp it was a noticeable difference until newer trucks with this chip were blowing engines, melting cylinders causing engines to sieze voiding warranties if chips were detected,most guyz I knew with this chip having engine issues would unwind the chip b4 dealership involvement worked until auto manufacturers caught on, Bully Dog chip was the #1 chip for ford diesel same deal. This shit always comes up during troubled times.

I have more faith in Mexican tap water than something you can simply plug into a vechile to get better fuel economy. Unless of course its a diesel getting a full weight loss surgery!

Programmers in a diesel can gain you some. Programmers in a normally aspirated gas engine can't gain you much, might be able to eek a bit MPG out of a turbo gas motor by delaying and/or limiting boost.

Newer gas motors w/VVT already do pretty much all of the "old-tricks" for both more MPG and more HP by automatically advancing or retarding timing on the fly.

With what gas engines can do on their own regarding timing and better fuel atomization it doesn't matter if you're driving a 1K HP F-1 car, ~700HP Indy/nascar cars, or a 250-400HP 1/2tn pickup, fuel saving measures are all the same. Easy into the throttle, let off earlier and coast more.
