Yeah I heard of this a while back, never really looked into it or tried it because I need my coke for rum, the guys talking about it were canuks who did it up ice fishing, I blew it off as drunken canuk talk though.

OK so it's stops the bleeding by constricting the blood vessels in the gills. Wouldn't that then lead to the fish suffocating from not enough oxygen being absorbed by the constricted vessels? Or does it only effect the area tore open ones?

Best thing to do is just get them back in the water, fish blood needs water to clot. That's my theory anyway

If its the CO2 that is doing the work why not just use plain soda water?

Best thing to do is just get them back in the water, fish blood needs water to clot. That's my theory anyway

Same here , I'll clean a deep hooked 12 or 14 inch walleye and take funny looks at the cleaning station all day long , I don't care.
