They would have nothing to do with it . It would be all federal and state. Just look at the round about that just went in there. It cost triple what it should have the state footed that bill. Colored concrete in the median what a waste of money.

I can’t imagine what the tero fee would be on that size of project. Look into that if you really want to get mad
Ill support it only if the concrete is colored like a rainbow!!!

The Terro fees would only apply on the West portion as I believe the center of the original channel is the boundary of the reservation. any portion not on the reservation should be exempt from Terro and they can go pound Sand.

Ya it would be figured on a percentage but imagine paying 50 percent at 3.5 percent on a three hundred million dollar job

Tero fees are a huge reason for lack of development on the reservations. When pricing out a project, you’re already dealing with a rural area, often far from suppliers and labor. Add that to the fees and projects are significantly more expensive than elsewhere. I understand the tribes see that the money going into these projects ultimately isn’t really going through their communities as they don’t have the businesses or trained labor to support the projects. And the fee is supposed to make up for this. Call it chicken and egg scenario, but you’ll never have something when your policies create walls that prevent you from getting it. It’s sad as could you imagine what impact it would have to build a strong, trained construction labor force in the reservation? It would be life changing for so many.

A trade school in fort Yates would be a huge step in the right direction. Im not sure what sitting bull offers and maybe they already do but there’s a pretty good amount of natives that work in the trades in the Bismarck Mandan area already. The trades need people and will continue to see demand. A push towards the trades would setup their young people with good long term careers.

Im not sure what sitting bull offers and maybe they already do but there’s a pretty good amount of natives that work in the trades in the Bismarck Mandan area already. The trades need people and will continue to see demand. A push towards the trades would setup their young people with good long term careers.
Ahh like sitting bull college? Graduation rate of i believe 13%.......

They also have united tribes school in bismarck which I believe is free for tribal members

That’s what I’m saying. Maybe they are pushing to the wrong areas of education. Most of the native tradesmen i know live very comfortable lives.
Pretty sure they have trades there. Welding and construction stuff I believe.

The last time we worked down in fort Yates on a small job at the Fort Yates International Airport we needed a couple laborers to fill their quota. When requesting the laborers the Tero agent asked if we had our own laborers we could bring as they don’t have anyone down here that wants to work. Now that was over 10 yrs ago so I bet things have changed since then.

Would it be such a bad idea to maybe fix/repair and otherwise maintain the bridges currently in use BEFORE spending a truckload of money to build another one? I know of several that have weight restrictions due to disrepair and degradation from use. Just a thought.
