anybody know what this thumb screw thingy is called inside a telescoping two piece ice shelter pole?

I am looking for the "curved nut" inside the bigger of the two rods - that holds the thumb screw in place and allows thumb screw to apply pressure on the inner smaller diameter rod

curved flange weld nut

is as close as I can get googling

I'm making a replacement pole - is there another mechanical approach that's used (this one came off a CanvasCraft shelter)

guess I'll go to Mac's - but they've gone mainstream (lame) lately so I'm not holding our much hope.

I call it a "great excuse to replace the old with something new and better". I've been known to come up with great ideas like that. Which reminds me, I should "accidently" lose my cooler so I can replace it with a yeti.

Lincoln, kinda...
I am guessing you will have a difficult time finding something like this with the curve feature built in.

Have you tried to call Canvas Craft? They may be something fairly unique to their style of poles.

About a month ago they overcharged me for c-clips ($6 each) and high shipping, billed my CC number, and a month later hadn't shipped them. I called them and they said "oh, sorry, nobody sent them out".

I was trying to avoid going back to the tainted well with a bitter taste in my mouth.

Once something has been tainted, you ought to know better than to return. Tainting is bad.

Why couldn't you just tack weld a nut to the outside and use that to screw thru to apply the pressure?

Steve.
