Message: <blockquote data-quote="SDMF" data-source="post: 332824" data-attributes="member: 412"><p>In my simple brain I see the flattened projectile on the right "knife-edging" through flesh/organs/bone with little/no spin.  You get a hole, but, you don't get that "Vortex" creating a large and very traumatic secondary wound-channel.</p><p></p><p>So, again, spitballing here:  Bullet hits a cattail or two and has some yaw and is spinning off-axis when it impacts the moose.  The bullet clears the hide and clips a rip on the way in that flattens it and partially or totally impedes rotation and the projectile "knife-edges" through moose-parts until it runs out of energy and is obviously stopped inside the carcass.</p><p></p><p>If the projectile on the left is shot #1, I got nothing, no theory at all regarding how a text-book expanded projectile didn't cause enough trauma to kill that moose in well under 1Min.</p></blockquote><p></p>
