It's hard to believe they are that ignorant. Three winters ago there was about 1000 deer in the six to eight sections by the microwave tower west of Buchanan. I killed ten coyotes around there. I shot one of four on a fresh deer kill one morning. Another morning I watched a coyote run into a herd of about 30 deer. He passed three deer before grabbing the fourth. He had her down in under five seconds. I think I posted on here before about what appeared at distance to be a late fall brood of ducklings. From a half mile I watched as they swam up the Pipestem towards me. Switching to a spotting scope I seen it was a small 3x3 or 4x4 buck. For a long time I didn't notice the coyote parallelling him on the shore. Soon they were to close for me to get my rifle out of the back of the pickup unnoticed, but I tried. I missed the 600 yesterday running shot. As soon as the coyote left the deer came ashore on my side of the reservoir. His chest was all bloody and he collapsed on the bank. Two hours or more later when I checked he was gone. I thought only Manhattan vegans thought coyotes were eating only grasshoppers and crickets. I guess this is what the current universities teach biologists.
