Is backtrolling a lost art?

I used my bow mount electric when the wind is not blowing to much. When the wind picks up I will used my kicker in reverse and a drift sock off the bow. I have found it is way easier in the wind to back troll. Its how i learned to fish and feel in the wind when the bow mount is turned up to 8 or so you might as well back troll.
