Message: <blockquote data-quote="KDM" data-source="post: 196353" data-attributes="member: 314"><p>I've got an old growth cottonwood/box elder/ash shelterbelt on the N of my property and a mix of pine, junipers, russian olive, and bushes on the south.  The snow will pile up 15 ft in the old growth while the pines and other stuff will have inches.  Seems to me that'w the best combo I've come across.  Last winter it looked the same.  Huge depths of snow on the N in the trees and then very little on the south for a couple hundred yards.  Lots of critters in there last winter too.  Tore up the place pretty good from what I could tell this spring.  Unfortunately, NOTHING works when you get freezing rain.  I'd rather have 20 below any day over freezing rain.</p></blockquote><p></p>
