New record sniper shot~

It is tough because they are not shooting run of the mill bullets. I would guess they are shooting some kind of hand turned solids. I don't even know where to start with what velocity they even run in the .50. I would have liked to see the faces of the goat humpers when there buddy got sent to his 72 virgins.

Personally, I'd rather see the effer's face when he realizes that his 72 virgins are more arab men.

Yeah but that's like aiming 50 feet over the top of the highest tower on the golden gate Bridge trying to shoot someone standing down at the water line! Not saying it didn't happen but when you suddenly see the record go up by over 30% that's a shockingly significant amount and thus quite suspicious.

Now I've seen and done shots out a chunk past 300 with a .17 but it was a whole lot of a second person helping you walk multiple rounds in on some stupid oblivious young pup prairie dogs. But even with that I'm not even sure I could get 800 feet worth of scenery between my crosshairs and the bottom of what I can see in the scope at two miles out to even start doping that in! if he did it that's nothing less than insane and you can almost all but guarantee it wasn't as first try.

Aiming high with open sights is easier that way you can shoot with both eyes open so the Bbl. doesn't get in the way of the target.

I'm guessing the target and surroundings dictate the snipers shot , He might wait for a month for the perfect one shot kill on a mission with a serious target but they need trigger time to stay in shape so I'm guessing they are in the giggling mood when they lob one 3500 meters and see dirt fly within a few feet of the target.

Give the exact equipment used and I can show the math it is just in putting it to a ballistic program. The elevation is the least impressive part of the shot as that is static. The wind is ever changing figuring in the Coriolis and spin drift and all the factors that have variables is the part everyone will just speculate. In elr comps civilian's are shooting a couple miles and hitting consistently so I don't think this is fabricated in any way.

I agree as well. The elevation is the easiest to figure but the wind, spin drift, and mirage calculations are really magnified at this range. I ran it through shooters calculator but accidently typed in 3450 yds instead of 3540 yds. There is quite a elavation difference in that 90 yds alone about 53 ft.

Long shots can be made but a shot over 3700 yards is definitely not one shot one kill range it's let's have some fun and go fishing range. Plus there's a big difference between a 36 inch target and a scrawny little Afghan or Iraqi.

Is there actually a mirage calculation ? 500 meters is the furthest I ever wanted to shoot with my equipment but even at that range I'd rather shoot with a breeze than a mirage.

Just a thought at 3540 yds the 500 BMG has more kinetic energy than a 308 at 400yds or a 30-06 at 500 yds. My military friends and family members have told me there are not many safe places in nature when somebody has there finger on the trigger of a 50 BMG.

Especially if they are using the rounds with depleted uranium tips that will punch through an engine block. One thing to keep in mind is the shot is listed in meters so it's actually 3772 yards. That is just crazy far.....10 second hang time is nothing short of wow! You know your whipping them out there a hell of a long ways when the sound gets there before the bullet!
