Got on the water, for a few hours, yesterday. It was such a nice day, it was hard not to. We poked around the areas North of the bridge, up to about the White Earth ramp area. Water temps were in the 46 degree mark. We marked a handful of fish, in a few different locations. We pitched jigs and watched them on the livescope. It was hard to get them to follow, and when they did it was short lived. We ended up with one, and that one was snagged (we tossed it back).

We talked to the game warden as we got off the water. He was checking boats that day. He said that he talked to the guys working the spawn nets and that he was told they were fully into their spawn on that day. He told us that of all of the boats that he checked, one boat had 3, and that was the best he saw.

I'm hoping some folks had a more successful outing than us. We need some warm weather. I'd say we are about a week to 10 days away from it really firing up, with that post spawn bite.

Looking forward to another, great, open water season.

Thanks for the report V! I ran up to Darling after work yesterday, fished for about 3 hours. Put in at the Spillway ramp, ran about half way up to Grano...worked my way back south. Marked fish everywhere I jigged, used jigs and plastics - could not get them to bite. Water temps 51 - 53, should pick up in the next week.
