One of the last issues of In Fisherman has and article on how a 10" bluegill is much, much more rare than most other species. Interesting stuff....

For me the memory is more about the fish than the size. I have a 39inch pike that went just under 20lb that I have one the wall. I caught it with a ultralight rod and 4lb test crappie fishing. My walleye is about 10 lbs and the only reason that ones the wall is I caught it with my son 3 years old at the time sitting on my lap. Out the the seven fish I have on the wall only 2 are trophy class in most people's book a 2lb crappie and a 2lb perch.

I only have one fish on the wall and it's a 28 inch eye that was my first true big walleye I caught in high school. Used to think if I got one over 30 I would mount it but got a 31 that was just post spawn but didn't get her mounted and she was fatally hooked in the gills so she went under the knife. Not sure why I didn't. ...probably because she had lost allot of her good looks when she spawned. If she still had that fat belly maybe I would have. For me it's not really a set weight or length thing with fish but more of a holy shit thing. The more capitals used to spell it the more likely it will be to go on the wall. Like said by a few the story will play a large roll in what trips the taxidermy switch.

With panfish I'm not sure if I would ever do a solo mount because it just never seems to do them justice or something. For whatever reason I've just never liked them thone mounts. Be far more likely to do a stringer mount or have them laying around a fake ice hole type of set up then the old perch on a chunk of driftwood but those get spendy fast probably why I don't have one.

Oh and for a taxidermy thread we need way more pictures. Post them up guys let's see what you've got on the wall.

State record of any species. I take pics of every respectable catch I have. Might consider a replica tho if it was a true hawg.
