Open water fishing, ice fishing, or hunting?

Pretty rare on Dec 4th to be able to pick your poison. Not sure if any of you guys have the balls to try ice fishing, but I am sure someone will. I plan on blasting a few cocks in the morning, then heading to a Christmas party in the afternoon.

Picked up an 870 20 gauge youth for the boy for Christmas, might have to talk mrs johnr into letting me give it to him early.

I actually rode my Hog to work this afternoon. Saw a guy yesterday riding and figured I am just as bad ass and did today. I am hoping to put it away for the season, time to freeze some lakes already.

We actually gained a fair bit of ice this week in South Central ND. Checked a few lakes on my drive today and the least I found was 3-4 inches at the new johns boat ramp and we docked a boat there last Thursday so that's pretty good all things considered. The rest of the spots varried from as little as around 6 to a touch over 10 and the ice is still clear and solid other then where water came up through the cracks and soaked the snow. Did see allot of pheasants too so tomorrow should be a good day for your hunt out there.

Duck is a great idea. One of the best duck hunt I have ever had was on December 14th. Got this pintail .I will be bow hunting. In the morning. I'm hoping to fish around new town early next week in the boat.

This is what I call a death wish! Lake had four to five inches in the main basin but dropped below 3 in atleast one spot I checked and this is on the slush ice not nice clear stuff!
