WARD COUNTY, N.D. (KMOT) - The Ward County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a cattle feedlot northeast of Surrey, where they found hundreds of dead cattle.
According to a news release, investigators served a search warrant at the property on Thursday and found 472 dead cattle and properly disposed of them.
The feedlot is believed to house between 8,000 and 9,000 cattle.
The Department of Environmental Quality is aware of the incident.
The sheriff’s office said a public hearing was held earlier this week in McHenry County regarding the operation and potential water pollution reaching Buffalo Lodge Lake.
The investigation is in its early stages, and the Sheriff’s Office said no one is in custody as of now.
