I can bet that everyone on this site has taken a shit before and missed something. EXAMPLE: Take a family where the grown kids moved to states without bullshit laws away from the remaining parent who stays in her / his home. Mom paid all the bills but she is gone and dad has some help from the kids. The grown kids set up most everything on auto pay except a few items and one of them is property tax. Dad makes fairly good income and doesnt qualify for the homestead credit but does qualify for the primary residence credit. The Fcknng county sends out a paper flyer stating to remember the go online and sign up for the primary residence credit. But when daughter goes online to pay the taxes online the online system to directly pay taxes says nothing of the primary credit. Its forgotten no credit - cass co is used in this example. Bismarck i just looked same thing nothing if i google pay property taxes leads me right to them with no "dont forget". Was the bill setup to be forgotten - yes my one senator told me yes its a rebate just like menards. This needs to be addressed. The homestead credit is more governed by the county they were able to issue refunds ie much more flexible. The ND State Tax Commissioner's office is the one deals with the law and requirements for the primary residence credit. Its a fail. It should of been a one and done. Is the example above mine - no my parents are gone. Have i missed mine ---no. The example is just one of many. I havent had a mortgage for a while - but doesnt the county send out a statement regardless if escrowed or not; how many of them get filed in 13 or a drawer as the escrow pays the taxes. I can think of many situations. So lets take your babyboomer or babyboomer's kid ass and start thinking outside the box and take away the "I did it for me i dont care about anyone else" and change it to "I helped someone today". Happy New Years Shorthairsrus
