I’ve joked about inventing/using grouse deeks, but they might actually work!! I too have patterned and pass shot sharpies. They tend to lock the brakes and land amongst friends. Not as predictable as waterfowl, but they do it!

More than once I've had sharpies land in a spread of duck and goose decoys.

If it was out of the pickup window whilst still rolling you’d be legendary!!

A lot of people didn’t know how to kill a grouse without a pickup until about 1997 lol. Single row tree rows used to look like highways lol. And late season big flocks were much more approachable at speed, or so I’m told.

They really are fun to hunt. Varied cover, goofy critters. I’ve found them on near barren hilltops, brushy creeks, shoulder high corn, sunflowers, you name it. Lots of spillover with Huns and roosters makes for fun hunting.
