Oh I've gone through many of those sites and articles before. I've actively chased carp with rod and reel for years now but primarily at my folks because I fish allot like that article and that's illegal in ND but not on our lake. Hell I'm probably one of the few guys in nd who has sowing needles in my tackle box to put the bait on the extra piece of line so the carp don't feel the hook till its to late.

I caught a HUGE carp on a crank last Wed. Then caught another average sized one on a jig Friday

Oddly we are catching a fair few more or less trolling ripping raps. Never seen a lure before that would trigger a hit out of carp like the ripping rap does. Would guess that these carp have acquired a taste for wounded and dieing bluegills since the lake is filled with them and the ripping rap does a close approximation of them.

Raining like a cow pissing on a flat rock here the last few hours. Water seems to be coming up some every day. Where people where shore fishing a few days ago are now under water. I like watching it come up

My ditches are 4' deep and the culverts couldn't handle the flow here in this new subdivision. The water was backing up into my yard bad, then the rain eased off and water started dropping again. During all that I found out that I have a problem with the drain tile under one of my basement windows. The window well was filling up with water and started coming into the basement. Good thing the basements not finished yet!!!!!!!! Sucked out between 35 and 40 gallons of water out of the well. Now just have to wait for everything to dry up so I can dig out the window well and but in gravel all the way down to the drain tile.

That's because the higher releases didn't start till today. The heavy rain band ran the length of the lake so that might add a bit to her but after today the rise will slow to a crawl.
