Yup,my stomping grounds growing up,back in the 60's metro was called the "Winchester gun club" my pops had me shooting the duck tower, humbling at first but what a learning experience never told my hunting buddies where I practiced as we competed for bragging rights afield. When I retired spending my summers in Minnesota I got my coaching permit and taught high school seniors taking trap shooting course,we had 300+ students gun safety course first then the range plus once a month ladies day at the range free lessons no male involvement, even had the ladies learn handgun shooting indoor range. Seems I remember a league team name "deadeye" that be you? Rick did a great job expanding his club it all started when Ziggy eye balled the club for his new viking stadium endeavors, ole Rick saw $$ signs expanding his trap range to 15 trap houses 5 skeet/5 stand fields bought two new vehicles boat, cabin on leech lake... his neighbor at the club entrance raised and trained gun dogs a developer bought the property im sure after the word got out about the viking stadium interest, his property sold for several millions according to Rick so who knows? Even anoka county tried getting involved wanted the property dnr slapped a fine on the gun range for lead pollution (high water table) on the 135 acres... what a shitshow back then Then poof! No stadium deal... Good on you getting your daughter involved in shooting sports well done metro had a few good ole boyz always hanging out at the range playing cards telling stories, good times thanx for the memories. Sadly the sport has become so expensive both ammo and target costs.
