I know if I overcall, I have less success. But hard to keep one self in control. LOL
I have better luck when I call JUST enough to keep them interested. They are very inquisitive and once you have them coming I have a lot better luck if I call little to not at all.
As a side note, I now even force myself to sometimes even put my call BACK into my pocket when they are coming in.

I'm telling you man; this guy could cause another evolution in turkey. When the pilgrims landed; ruffed grouse were called "fool's hens" and both could be chased down and beaten with sticks.

ND seems an exception as they're seemingly not taken seriously and regarded more as a pest.

My PB gobbler was killed in Lake Alice WMA after getting out of the truck and blasting it out of a group of three. I sat on the tail gate and called the other two back within 25yds. They re-crossed the road gobbling while I was having a beer. That was not a hunt: It was a shoot. Two pot pies and two "chicken finger" fries...It was a big SOB.

I still maintain WV should work out some sort of trade for ND dumbassed gobblers and the Tailrace:

Piss on the British: Gut ASAP. Cool the carcass with all gamebirds unless you want to eat that "shit/gut smell". Canada's/sharptail can't be helped...it's shit/fish/liver. Huns are borderline.

I didn't emphasis "see" enough. A visible golden rainbow in current; has the capacity to cause abject rage. You cannot provoke a reaction strike with conventional bait/gear. It will cock tease like the neighbor's wife shaking her ass at the mailbox until you're tempted to present a "treble fly".

They'd feed pike. I still see in my mind the monster breaching through a school of fingerling trout one warm November afternoon at the Blocks. It's head looked 10in across. My 8lb PB rainbow was caught a year later, on the same type day on BC gear with a wire leader and the biggest Jointed Rap I could find. She was releasing eggs and I disgusted the Boy with eating a few: ZERO taste.

Driving up to the feed lot with ten tags. There in the ditch beside the truck were a herd of wild turkeys. Ten tags filled.

Saw a group on the shoulder of the highway on my way home from work yesterday, literally inches from the asphalt edge. 2 Tom's were all strutted up.

You can make the hunt what you want. Ya my farming friends tell me same thing in yard early in trees and feeding in bunks and silage pile during day. I don't Dad taught me to be better person than that I enjoy the real hunt call them in, each their own I don't brag about hunting like these above in conversation with guys. Good luck to those that hunt like it was to be and make memories with young or friends.

Got a buddy that calls some of his hunting spot and stock. Between past stories and some of what I have witnessed I call some of it something else but that is his prerogative. He has his way and I got mine, probably going to be tough next weekend with both daughters (youngest first time out) but I am sure we are still going to enjoy ourselves
