It's not a difficult concept. What you are trying to say is that because this spot is well known, has a good bite at certain times of year, and is accessible to shore fishermen, that shore fishermen are to be given special privileges over boat fishermen when it comes to fishing spots because they are shore fishermen. THAT is something I don't agree with. Neither time of year, accessibility, hotness of the bite, solar eclipses, planetary alignment, cosmic anomalies, nor the battle between good and evil have any bearing on first come first serve when it comes to a public resource. If someone chooses to move that's up to them, but there isn't any reason to even think someone should move just because someone else shows up and wants to fish. I shore fish more than I fish from a boat by a HUGE margin. In no way do I feel I have MORE RIGHT to the corner spot at the Ashtabula Crossing because I'm walking there instead of driving a boat. If there is a boat on ALL 4 CORNERS of the crossing when I get there, I'm just flat SOL and will have to find another spot. It happens to me ALL THE TIME. In the same way, I've wanted to fish some of the bridges on Devils Lake with my boat and all four corners of the bridge had shore fishermen on it. I went somewhere else. That's how it works. [QUOTE="KDM, post: 186800, member: 314"] You changed the scenario rignjig. Given the situation you described the boat guys would be in the wrong as the shore fishermen were there FIRST!!! This has happened to me several times while shore fishing and I voiced my displeasure and have had, on occasion, had to involve law enforcement to resolve the issue. However, the OP mentioned no problems until these guys showed up. That tells me that the boat was there FIRST and the shore guys are in the wrong. Whomever gets to the spot first, wins.
