Anyone know what the water temps are in the Van Hook arm area are? Has the fishing picked up? 2 weeks ago, they were still around 62 degrees.

I heard people are bringing lots of 20 plus inchers in to the cleaning station buddy has a cabin over there and says its a crazy year for the biggens
Meh, lots of small ones for most people.

That being said, I ran into a fellow at the cleaning station that I told "you know, I don't like you" to. He looked at me and said. "do we know each other?" I said "no", as I laid another 14-15" walleye on the table next to his party's limit of 21+ inch fish.

Needless to say, some are doing really well, while others are just catching fish.

Heading up late this week. Any thoughts on general depths? Heard the water is fairly dirty and bit has been shallower.

We caught fish anywhere from 8-24 ft of water. First day, about 15 ft was the best after the storms the night before. On second day they were shallower and we caught most of our fish in the 13-14 ft range. This was fishing the humps SW of the ramp.

Traxion, FWIW, I didn't think the water was all that murky, seemed kind of normal for the Van Hook area.

Also, the guys who had the big fish weren't fishing the humps south of the ramp, they kinda pointed in the SE direction, which made me think they were fishing the shoreline south and east of the campground.

In talking with my niece's son yesterday, he found some nice fish farther south. I didn't ask exactly where, but he and his grandpa pulled out 32 nice fish in a little over an hour in some bay. So, if you find them...it can be quite good.

Water was pretty warm last weekend at the beach. Never remember the water being so warm this early. Some guys were crushing fish from shore. Expecting fishing to be gang busters like the last 5-10 years have not been fishing Sak very long. Fishing back in the 90’s and 00’s was much different on Sak

Fished Van Hook the last few days. Slower than expected but we still caught good fish. Caught them anywhere from 4 to 25 feet on all types of baits. We marked lots of bait and fish in 20 to 25 feet and did our best on bigger fish pulling cranks. Caught smaller fish shallower generally. Great weather minus the smoke.
