Question for the peanut gallery. On my older 10ft Zach. On the one side, the gas? shock strut? broke....these things are kinda like...or exactly like...ones used on pickup toppers to more easily open and close the topper side windows/back. At any rate...do I even need to replace? knowing full well it just may take me a little more fat ass muscle to lower to the ice on that side of the Zach? TIA Obviously it is more heavy duty than a pickup topper one due to the weight....searching on amazon without luck.

Pics of it would help to understand what the attachments/ ends look like along with length and diameter

Thanks.. I will take a look. I guess the real question i was asking is even if i need to get a replacement? 95 % of the time I go fishing in the zach is with a bud or the wife. If it isnt harmful to the zach, i would just lower the zach myself on that side and either the bud or the wife can do the other side....either way..this thing is easy peasy..setting on the ice or lifting up and moving. I guess my question if i cannot find a replacement.....does it even matter? Full disclosure....i live in devils lake area so it really doesnt get many hiway miles or banged around on the lake..just wondering it matters missing that strut if traveling...dont think it does.

I would venture to guess it has nothing to do with traveling. Just a lift assist. But no first hand experience with them. I looked at one long ago, like 10 years, but I got CRS

Mine came off my zach shack 2yrs after I bought it and I used it for the next 10yrs without. More important to grease the axle (no real axle)/bearing system periodically (this will ensure up and down is relatively painless). No issues with mine at all without them. I also made sure never to overload it when pulling down the highway....I believe those 10ft ones are a 2000lb axle and the shack accounts for 1000lbs....so no heavy side by side in those =

I have a 10 ft Zac Shack that I replaced the lift cylinders on. It does make a difference on lifting or lowering the shack. Try here for new support cylinders...WWW.LIFT SUPPORTS DEPOT.COM
