I usually use a 6'6" MH casting rod spooled with 20 pound power pro. Depending on water and wind conditions, its usually a 1 to 1 1/2 oz BB and a 4'-6' spinner. just starting to use slow death hooks, but ive heard good reviews on em.#$%^&>

Fenwick HMG 7'2" Medium Action Casting Rod with Quantum Accurist PT 100 reel spooled with 20 pound Fireline.
The Quantum reel has a flipping switch that works very well.....I'll use a 1 1/2 or 2 ounce bottom bouncer.
Just use the inexpensive spinners from Home of Economy tipped with some Gulp...either a killer crawler or 3" minnow in varying colors....
Troll speeds from .09 to 1.1 mph......Seems to fill the live well time after time!

I use the Jason Mitchell 6'6" casting bottom bouncer rods. Pflueger reels spooled with 20lb power pro. I mostly use 1-2 oz bouncers.

generally speaking: something sensitive enough to tell you are on the bottom and maybe what type of bottom you are on. but, with enough back bone to handle some weight and get a good hook set. the line needs to be heavier than whatever you run for spinners so you don't loose the bb every time you get hung up. hopefully, its heavy enough to bend and occasional hook straight too.

I found a G-Loomis on E-bay a couple years ago that fits your specifications to a tee! I paid 120 plus 15 shipping and new they are double that. (It has one eyelet messed up a little but performs the same) Best BB rod I've ever had in my hands! Its 7' CBR 845 Med Heavy, Mod-Fast action. I always use a bait casting reel for BB. I like Garcia and put a new one on it this year, a pretty spendy one. I use Power Pro 20lb 6 lb diameter line.

It is important to use a stiff yet sensitive rod for bouncing….my go to is a g-loomis walleye series casting rod with older diawa reel can’t remember model … I do have a shimano Citica I have been meaning to switch out … it’s just hard to break up the tried and true pair…if you are trying to save a few bucks the scheels or cabelas brands aren’t bad if you stick with their tournament series

Am I missing something here or what is the reason for running such heavy line as everyone seems to? 20lb. I have 10lb on my BB rigs and don't see any reasons to go heavier.

I run 10-2 on mine as well however I usually don't pull anything over an once...if I ran 2oz or bigger I might go 20-6 ... I straighten a lot of hooks or snap rigs on tree snags with 10-2

I use a 7' MH rod with 12-15lb line. I tie all my own spinners with 10lb floro...that way if I snag I just lose the spinner and not the bb, and don't have to use such a heavy line on the spool. Depending on depth, I'll use up to a 3oz bb.

If you dont roll your own spinners, the over the counter ones usually have 12 lb or heavier mono. So, the heavier braid allows you to break just the spinner off and save the bb or bend the hook if you get snagged.... unless its the bb thats snagged of course.
