Sharpening stone?

I just acquired an old one similar to this. However it is some what dirty with some rusty areas.
Any suggestions on how to clean it up. Thanks!

Soak it in vinegar overnight and then take a scotchbrite pad to the rusty areas

I just cleaned some of my stones using WD-40 and steel wool. It cleaned them up amazingly easy.

Dish soap under the faucet. Will also clean the "pores" after use.

Stones? While like many things, you can spend just about as much as you'd care to, but a set like this would be enough for just about anyone to sharpen all but serrated blades.

Thanks, I had a lid from an old cake pan and added 1/2 inch of vinegar. Went side by side and had a palm sander with fine paper. Worked very well Thank you very much.

You can also use dish soap under a damn faucet and help prevent the spread of Covid 19.
