I agree that it show's the intellect and maturity of a person when they can handle speaking without the f-bombs flying. It's no different when in the presence of women. It's a r-e-s-p-e-c-t kind of thing..... around guys? Hey, the conversational flow will dictate what is/isn't acceptable.

The guys that drop the f-bomb every third word and almost every sentence in front of anyone, especially when typing, does show a lack of class. Can you TYPE a clear message and sentence without using the word? Sure you can.

Let's have some form of decency and moderation, folks!

What the fuck are you trying to say here?

I can see using the "F" word being offensive if its over board. But if its used sparingly who gives a crap? I also love the censorship some people use sh!t or a$$ or f*@k - that's basically like my kids saying what the fudge - they're still getting in trouble for it because the meaning doesn't change when you use a different word and it sounds just as ignorant as the full phrase. Silly how we get so offended by words. I do my best to not curse around my kids, or my elders etc etc. I've seen the stuff we talk about on here, if a tad bit of profanity offends you, you're probably on the wrong forum. Just my thought anyway. :)

I can't stand it when people say frickin'... It was cool in 3rd grade, get a pair and swear like a man...

I wish I didn't swear, as it is a bad habit and makes me appear more dumb and ignorant than need be..

It also doesn't come across well on message boards. Plus mom might read this.

For me there's swearing, and then theres' filthy language. Hard to define but know it when I see it. Same as porn. I guess if I wouldn't say it around my grandkids then I shouldn't say it anywhere else where people I don't know or might be offended by it may hear or read it. Don't want to have to be a moderator and decide which words should be given a warning and which I let go. In a gentleman's world moderators wouldn't be necessary. Have we lost so much common sense that we ourselves don't realize when we have crossed the line?

Someone swears excessively and you don't like it give them neg rep and tell them why you did it. We got a system on here for this stuff, if it's a problem we take care of it. I could careless if someone swears

Sawyer,
What makes the F bomb a bad word? Because someone at one time decided it was? I'm a fairly religious fella and would much rather hear the f bomb thrown around than people using Jesus or God as a swear word. I know not all feel that way and that's fine, but at least I have a reason for disliking that. The f bomb is just a stupid word. Who cares.

http://www.medicaldaily.com/bad-wor...tually-have-higher-verbal-intelligence-368852

For the study, researchers recruited more than 200 college students aged 18 to 22 to take a Controlled Oral Word Association Test (COWAT). The verbal fluency test isdesigned to measure spontaneous production of words belonging to the same category. And students completed both written and oral tests in threespecific categories: general fluency (standard vocabulary); taboo word fluency (curse words like f--k, s--t, and a--hole); and animal word fluency (words like bird, bat, and tiger).

Good read

Really all swear words are basically stemmed from taking the Lords' name in vain.
