  1. Van Hook Weekend

Spent three days at Van Hook, Friday thru Sunday. Caught nice fish, not big numbers but good fishing. It was difficult to pattern them, never found a real concentration of fish. One here, one there, two here, one there. Shallow to deep, we caught fish in 12' to 32' with 20' marking a lot of fish. Bait was better than cranks, just couldn't get a good cranking pattern going. Fished all over, from the slides to Shell Creek Bay and the west side. Nothing really stood out. Fun weekend with pretty good weather as a whole!

  2. Van Hook NR Pillaging

Came north to fish the Van Hook area for the first time and to pillage a few ND walleyes. First day got there mid afternoon and headed to the west side. Had nice fish on nearly immediately pulling cranks in 18-20'. Very nice average of fish and a good way to start the trip. Second day way windy and we elected to put in at Parshall and fished Shell Creek. Pulled cranks in 10' and caught nice fish, not quite the quality of the previous day but did find a nice 27" to C & R. Third day was nice and we headed back to the west side. Bite seemed slower in the morning in that area but heated ...

  3. Lake Oahe- Mobridge Area

Fished Lake Oahe out of Mobridge from Friday thru Sunday. The wind was really bad for 2 1/2 of the days, some of the worst I have fished in. Made boat control a bugger at times. Fished my typical areas north of town and in the Grand River. Friday had a couple decent fish and some smaller ones. Saturday was tough and only had a few smaller fish. Sunday was a bit better with a couple 17" fish and some smaller ones. Caught 12 different species of fish over the trip and hooked into a few decent northerns. Caught most fish shallow, 15 FOW, with many coming in less than 8 FOW.

  4. Northern SD Lake Oahe

Spent the last few days fishing the northern part of Oahe in SD. Caught lots of fish but size was nothing huge. Probably 15"-16" average and I didn't have any fish bigger than 18". Most fish caught pulling cranks in 10-15 FOW. Didn't fish much deeper but did spend quite a bit of time shallower with not much different results. Caught lots of NICE smallies up shallow in rocky areas, lots of fun. Also caught some decent crappies. I have heard reports of others catching better fish but all I saw at the cleaning station had similar fish. Fish look OK but looks like there is ...
