When summer arrives, there's one live bait that almost never leaves my boat: nightcrawlers. Whether I'm fishing deep rock, weed edges, flats, current, or suspended fish, crawlers consistently catch walleyes when other baits slow down.
In this video, I'll explain why crawlers become so effective during the summer, when I choose them over leeches or minnows, and how to fish them using several of my favorite presentations. We'll cover jig and crawler techniques, spinner harnesses, slip bobbers, live bait rigs, and more, with plenty of fish catches mixed in to show these methods in action. I'll also share a few crawler alternatives for the situations where I reach for something different.
If you're looking to catch more walleyes this summer, I hope this video gives you a few new ideas to try on your next trip.
