Looking for input on where to fish near/around Bismarck. The wife and I are staying at the Ramkota for a few days middle of next week after the 4th. Taking the boat, just wanted some insight regarding easy on/easy off locations where we can get our lines wet. I know the Fox Island ramp is only a few minutes away, but maybe we should head further south? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I think you'd have better luck heading south to beaver bay. A lot less stuff to hit as well. If you choose to fish the river in town, the middle of the week should allow you to miss some of the pleasure boat traffic as well.

I'm with dirty on that one, around Bismarck on weekends is total stupid boats every where. You can dock out of misty water and if you go north past hoge island its a lot less pleasure boats. I was north last week I did catch fish but no size biggest was 16". so like dirty said if you want to fish south is the way to go.

You got it. 1804 south, hang a right at the T, Beav is right there on your right. Very nice ramp

This thread is what it's all about. What a refreshing exchange. Nobody jumping anybody's junk. A guy looking for some general info, and a couple of anglers helping out.

Bravo.

After 5 AM, as you head southeast out of town, there is Runway Express. If you get to the airport, you've gone too far. That's the last bait shop on the way out of town. Minnows, crawlers, and leeches to be had.

Crawlers are probably the ticket right now so like mentioned above buy day before and keep cool or... walmart is open 24/6 and carries crawlers in the fishing section. Landers Sunrise Plaza just off 94 and state street would be open, they would have minnows as well. Runway express by the airport and Pony Express off Washington ST. and Expressway (probably the closest to ramkota)I think opens up at 6 and would have your bait covered.

Yup, all good places. Landers is the wrong side of town however.

South Walmart would work. Pony Express on Washington would work but again, the wrong direction.

Runway Express is where you want to go, and I'm 98% sure they open at 5 AM.

Agree with Runway if you are heading south on 1804, can get some tasty breakfast sandwiches as well.

However, I gave the other options cause I am not in agreement with going south on 1804.
