Does anyone on here ever target bass in winter? would love to give it a try here in town and see how it goes in my folks yard. just about the highest densities of bass and bluegill you will find in the state and a fair few are getting "big". I only have cursory knowledge on what roughly to look for for spring bass fishing but all in I'm guessing. be fun to get a few guys together and hit the lake and see if we can't figure them out. the lake is crazy with bluegills but ,osteoporosis are quite small.

This whone thing will need to be a bit warm up but could be fun.....well at least the beer would be. if anyone has an interest in doing this just let me know. one nice thing is North Dakota's laws on fishing do not apply to Cottonwood Lake.

LM seem more catchable under ice. SM once located seem to have a very small specific window at dusk. This is from my "research". Go out on your folk's pond and slay them.

Try in about ten fow and use a buckshot rattler if you have a flasher watch for the blueys to came in and then wait for them to scatter that means there is a bass nearby so start using the jig aggressively and that should work, also try tip ups they work for me, also do you know if you can ice fish on the public cottonwood lake I seen the access was blocked last year

I catch a ton of them in Mn. All I use is a treble hook and 3 minnows.

Weed edges if you have any - just like summer. Buckshot rattler or teardrop or foo flyer with a minnow head. Catch limits easily in MN with such techniques.

glow red buckshot rattler in particular really seems to get their blood going

I don't recall ever catching a SM through the ice. Wierd.

Tungsten jigs or smaller frostee spoon with wax worms or spikes work well. Catch gills and bass at the same time. Largemouth on light ice gear is a blast

Never got into smallmouth yet

I've drilled on top of schools of smallies at audobon a couple times. They were always around rock piles in 15-20'. When I've found them they have been very aggressive.

I'm pretty sure you can but like you saw its normally blocked off at the normal entrance. the quickest way in is to drop off the end of Santa Fe Avenue. that will get you pretty much to the north tip of the pond. don't normally see to many guys out there save for the year they stocked it with a few hundred Chinook salmon.

How is it you can comment on most matters but will not fill us in on your access post and the salmon activity in this unusual location?
