How strict are they on having current registration on a snowmobile used for fishing ? Mine doesn't leave the farm other than if I haul it to the lake fishing and $ 50 seemed kind of steep for 2 years, I'd gladly pay it if I rode trails but I don't.

It's going to be a long winter and not worth risking a ticket. Just get it

not sure what the fine is but since most speeding tickets in ND are only like 10-20 bucks I cant imagine it is to bad. If only taking it to the lake a couple times I would probably not register it but since I take my sleds to Canada for ice fishing I register them so I dont get hassled at the border or on the lake.

I just paid $30 for a 2 year license on the side by side, and I can drive that on city streets, and highways. Seems a sled license shouldnt cost even more?

I have my snowmobiles insured for liability under my homeowner's insurance.

fine for me was more than the license and I also paid for a license at that moment. Yes I had liability insurance and you take a huge risk not having considering what can happen with sleds, kids soforth. One screw up by your 12 year old kid and you may lose a bunch or one too many beers and it will get costly. I hit the tree dead center wide open on my scorpion so as to miss the neighbors house as no liability and was concern with burning that house down if I had hit the house. At midnight I did crawl a ways to get home.
No other insurance and so when my year old sled was stolen I got nothing. Finally caught the natives that stole it ( and no the cops did not find them) and still got nothing thanks to the judge and the natives got nothing either.
A few years ago I told my kids who ever got here first gets both sleds and the trailer. db

db was the fine for breaking the rules of operation or did hey actually fine you just for not having it licensed. Rules and laws change too so what happens tomorrow might not be the same.

I just think it's kind of silly how they write laws, They also state public land and no mention of public lakes. Like I said earlier, I have no problem paying my fair share. I'd gladly send them $ 50 to ride trails but I feel like I'm getting roped in to another game just to go fishing a couple times a year.

No fine but a fee of $ 50 for no registration but If you get caught breaking the "rules of operation" they give you at least $ 100 fine.
I interpret it as a verbal warning to register.

39-24-03. Registration
Any
person, unless specifically exempted, who fails to register or fails to display a decal as required
by sections 39-24-02 and 39-24-04 must be assessed a fee of fifty dollars. If the person
provides proof of registration after the violation, the fee may be reduced by one-half. Any person
who violates any other provision of this chapter for which a specific penalty is not provided must
be assessed a fee of ten dollars.

39-24-09. Rules for operation

Any person who violates subsection 11 of section 39-24-09 is guilty of a class B
misdemeanor and must be assessed a fine of at least one hundred dollars

he said the fine was for not having the sled license and I assume that is the same of breaking the rules.
It was many years ago and I believe the fine was 20 to 30 dollars but things do change over the years. And then the monies to get the license and I do not remember how much that was. However I believe the license then came in the mail.
Was on the international run out of the peace garden. They were checking everybody after you had gone down the trail a few hundred yards behind some trees. db

Here
A Poem

Snowmobile
Snowmobile
Pushing from tracks instead of a wheel
If I had a purple Snowmobile
All the farmers would think I was queer.

It would be nice to set this with classical guitar .

If you really want to experience the thrill of snowmobiling, and save $50 at the same time, just stick your head in the freezer and have your wife smack you in the ass with a 2x4.
