If anybody wants to check out one of the toughest races on the planet the pro class heads out of Big Lake here in 4 hrs.

http://www.irondog.org/

The race tracking is pretty cool set up the same as the Iditarod where you can see where all the 35 teams are and how fast they are going real time.

Iditarod is following the same trail from Fairbanks to Nome in two weeks.

Go team 15 !!

These guys cartwheeled a sled within 10 mikes of the start then replaced a track, heat exchanger and two torsion bars without any help then took off only to wreck again at the mouth of the Big Su so bad one guy had to be medivaced by helocopter.

All them fellers are tough.

I will give a shout out to the Iditarod sled dog race to GPS track in early March also. Fun stuff! My wife's cousin and his son have won the thing a good number of times. The Seavey's- Mitch and Dallas.

I understand it is a race and all, but 10 miles from the start? Crap happens but from the sounds of that they didn't have a snowball's chance in hell at making it 2000 miles. What are the conditions like they are riding on? The pin it to win it strategy doesn't seem like it would end up well.

The way the sleds look @ the starting line it looks like they run them similar to a 3-legged sack race. If they don't, they should.

The winning teams usually average 57 mph over 2000 miles. To say these sleds are run hard is an understatement. Considering there are stretches where 15-20 is all they can safely drive.
