You might hit things just right with a warm-up predicted for Fri/Sat.

Yeah it's cold outside it is still better then a 3+ day snow storm with 6+ feet snow drifts to shovel out of. In August of 2018 williston had a temperature of 106 degrees and this morning it was -32 degrees.

Is it me or does the media make a bigger deal out of what I would call an average ND winter?

they make a huge deal about wind chill temps you have to pay attention to the weather to see what the actual temp is. When did they start canceling school for winter?

Lincoln, kinda...
I am thinking it was the expected crappy roads that caused schools to cancel early, rather than wait until people had already started prepping for school. I live a mere six miles from work and there were 7-8 extra set of tracks in the ditches on my way to and from work today. This it the Bis/Lincoln area.

I’m a teacher but we have such a rural district that bussing students to school is not feasible, so I am just guessing at this. Could it possibly be that they do not want to have a cold related bus problem with 50 kids aboard that would need to be picked up? Diesel gelling comes to mind. All I really know isn’t that I won’t complain to you guys about -9...:)

Yes, "cold-nami" sells advertising apparently. Par for the course. My propane bill usually takes a hit at least once a winter....I guess this is it.

UPDATE: Wow, I don't have kids at the bus stop. Crazy that school is cancelled for cold.

Oh there's nothing new with that one if you think back Governor sinner shut down the entire State back back in 1989 and 1990 just for cold! I do love the forecast for Bismarck is a low of -10 in the high of -11 I'm not sure if they realize how that whole high-low thing is supposed to work but I think they got it backwards!;:;boozer

IMO this winter has been pretty mild to this point. We are almost thru January and this is really the only real cold stretch we've had. 2 months to go though and those could go either way.
