Have no idea, I did see a picture of a really nice bull and heard from some who were there that it might be a new state record. Have no idea how to score a moose other than a quick look at the score sheet. This bull was 50+ in width but I think the real score comes in tine length and this bull had long tines and 12-15 on each side and long paddles. Never heard a final score other than he was big. Then again I don't even know what the state record score is.

State record or not, no one would pass up this bull. Well, some liberals might but there is no explaining them.

Williston man harvests state record moose

MOOSE16.jpg
WILLISTON, N.D. - Rick Ellingson of Williston took down this bull moose in unit M-11 south of Williston in September.
It measures 190 6/8 officially and weighs more than 1,000 pounds. It is 53 2/8 wide.
Jason Zins of ND Bucks and Bulls says the Pope and Young measurements are a state record. Zins says the previous state record was held by Aaron Folk. That moose measured 166 7/8 and was taken near Mohall in 2012.

Hell of an ND bull!

They took a giant in southern Saskatchewan also.

you are the first person I have ever heard they that. I have only had a few pieces and it was excellent. When there is a favorite wild meat poll across the inter webs moose is generally always at the top

First time I’ve ever heard that. Someone didn’t take care of the meat properly or whoever cooked it made it well done. Even ribeye sucks well done

think about it. they're not grain eaters like deer. it's no different than grass fed beef. tough and no flavor. I've had moose several times over the years. none have been worth a shit. If you smoked one for 8hrs. like a brisket you might have something

Someone piss in your Cheerios, eye?

more like someone pissed and s*#+ on whatever piece of moose he ate. I can honestly say moose and elk has been fantastic every time I’ve ever had it.

I've had moose MANY times. It's literally almost no different than deer meat. If it's taken care of and not frozen immediately it's excellent.

Quit cooking whole meat chunks more than medium. Medium rare preferably. You’re welcome. Also, I’m captain obvious

Wow. This is one hot take. I’d suggest selling all your big game guns, move to Oklahoma, and live off feedlot beef. No more of that “tough” grass fed trash. I think your tastebuds are broken or whomever cooked for you doesn’t know their ass from their elbow. You ask 100 hunters what their favorite venison is, and if they’ve had moose it’ll likely win.

You can clearly see that it was SNAGGED so no record!
