I realize that inflation is up across the board, but when I went to renew my 2026 senior fishing license, I was shocked when I saw a 100% increase in one year. I know it's only 5 bucks more but that's not my point. It just goes to show how far the government is out of touch with the people and out of control. The state has more money than ever before with record oil revenue than they know how to spend and at the same time they just want more and more. The greed never stops. GF say they want to build up their reserve fund to 15 million while draining the reserves of the elderly fisherman.

Did they add a $ 2 fishing certificate too ? , I don't remember paying for it before.

I'm still not going to complain because this license is still the cheapest entertainment that I know of and they do a good job with the fisheries and access docks/ramps but I still gotta say dirty buggers.

*Fishing, Hunting, Furbearer Certificate $2
Senior Citizen Fishing License (65 or older) $10

One thing that did torque me though is a few weeks ago my phone had quit so had a new phone that wasn't set all the way up so didn't have my pictures or internet for proof of license or my hard copy.

I called NDGF with a curtesy call to explain the situation and "she" confirmed that I indeed had an active license and went on to tell me when it would expired and then I had to buy a new one bla bla bla, stuff every fisherman knows about, but advised me NOT to go fishing without it and drive to DL and get a copy made. I was at least 45 minutes away from town but do you suppose she had the curtesy to vouch for me that I'd called and explained the situation given the 0.001% chance that a game warden would even check me. After about 5 minutes of her on the phone I said screw this and went fishing.

Another time when I did get checked it was a cold cold day of fishing outside and I couldn't find it or feel my fingers. I handed him the phone and said it's on there and he walked over to his truck and called in and had an answer within a minute on a Sunday afternoon. He was polite and good about it and I'd like to believe they would all act like that as long as your not trying to jerk thier chain.

What is the reason for the $ 2 certificate ? back in the day of paper copies from multiple vendors it was understandable but now when everything is on line and they do not issue a paper certificate it is a bogus charge.

Pretty silly to complain about a $10 annual fishing license. $10 doesn't cover the cost of one shore fishing excursion.

Senior discounts and tax breaks are ridiculous anyway... a responsible 65 yr old should be in a far better financial situation than a 16 or 26 yr old. $10 should be trivial after 4+ decades of prime working years, investment growth and compounding interest.

The NDGF app was created for the sole purpose of ensuring even the technologically illiterate could easily locate the license on the phone.

You must not have read the complaint. It wasn't about the price of the license...It was about the 100% increase in one year. The rate is NOT the complaint. The rate is reasonable but the 100% increase is typical for out of touch politicians.

my biggest complaint about the fishing licenses isnt the cost, its that you dont get 12 months of fishing when you buy one. There is no good reason for someone buying a license a week ago to pay full price and only get to fish for a week when someone buying one today pays the same and gets to fish for a full year. Either the price should decrease the closer you get to the reset date, or they should change it so you get 12 months from the date of purchase.
