If that was the case, CV-19 lockdowns would’ve been more like what was reported in China. People essentially locked in their apartments for months on end.

Flock cameras, cell phones, self-driving cars, all forms of electronic payment. If some entity with access wants to run you to ground, you’re not likely on the run for long.

Even here with our relatively sparse population and large per capita number of “unplugged” vehicles, their relative rarity make them traceable. Significant cash deposits/withdrawals are also subject to scrutiny. It’s been purposefully made difficult to hide in plain sight.

Generally speaking, right now, today, my biggest concern would be enabling their use for speeding violations. I’m typically within 3-5 MPH of the posted speed limit. However, I don’t dawdle when I make a pass on 2-lane roads and one of my biggest concerns flock or no flock, is missing a sign signaling a reduction in speed limit.

The greatest threat to the public isn’t the camera or the software, it’s whom has access to the data and then how/why they use that access.

Driving down the interstate North of Fargo I saw what I believed to be a few flock cameras and I wondered about them using the cameras for speeding E-tickets . And or , monitoring traffic speed to advise Patrol where the traffic flow is too fast. Either now or in the future.

While I certainly understand the implications and at least some of the unintended consequences that may arise from FLOCK cameras being in place, I'm not sure much of the current hubb-bubb surrounding them has anything to do with that.

IMO, it's probably more likely significantly a manufactured crisis because politicians didn't fore-see all of the $$$ that would be spent on the systems and subscriptions. Politicians need to manufacture a crisis in order to install their grift into both sides of the argument.

They'll come to/host town halls either live or virtually, donors might get to be in private meetings w/politicans and company executives as part of a "focus group". What's really going on is figuring out what's the most lucrative grift. Is it PAC $$$ donations? Putting a family member, friend, donor/donor's family member on the company board? Creating a new "watchdog" which of course means appointing someone to "oversee" the impacts? Etc, etc, etc.

Foreign BOTS spin up both sides. Media manufactures a crisis. Politicians "listen" long enough to figure out where the best grift might be for them, their family, complicit media family and friends, and/or their donors. Politicians implement their grift, media and donors get their crumbs. The media drops/stops reporting on the issue and anyone still trying to bring light to the issue is branded a whacko, obsessed, or worse. Then the only hope abuses might come to light is perhaps a politician, one of their family, or their donors are somehow subject to user-abuse or downright errors of the system. Beyond that the only thing left is for the taxpayer to get the bill.
