I'm trying to figure out who's going to benefit from this? What's the angle? What's the Grift? Who's the ultimate beneficiary from doing things differently?
Some nonprofits are legit. Many are not. They don’t exist to solve problems, they exist for self preservation. If the problem was actually solved, they’d go out of business.
My answer to “ who benefits?”is, all the groups who support socialism. When “Free” lunch passes, they will move on to “Free” college, Loan forgiveness , “ free” healthcare etc
As the great Milton Friedman said, there is no free lunch

I’m all for ending government programs and making people fend for themselves. Some of the biggest complainers about giving a kid free lunch is accepting hundreds of thousands in ag subsidies. Not that much different. If you suck at something you should go out of business and let somebody more efficient complete the job.

I'm looking for a more specific answer. I don't know enough to even hazard a guess at the "who", which is why I ask. In '23 there was $6 Million allocated to ND Superintendent of Public Instruction so that person could ensure children were fed without question. I believe the Governor has stated only about half of that $$$ has been utilized.

I can understand a desire to introduce legislation that guarantees every lunch gets paid for as well as any school district's incurred debt due to non-payment. 1st thing that should happen though is assurance that proper documentation has been submitted to the Feds.

What non-profit entity benefits from shifting the School lunch budget from Federal when the documentation is performed properly, to the State of ND taxpayers when Federal documentation isn't completed? Is there an In-State agency somehow thinking they're missing out on a payday when the Feds are engaged to honor their financial obligation?

Could also be “ virtue signaling” by fixing a problem that doesn’t exist

Couldn't a school, city, county....decide to feed all the kids in their jurisdiction? Do we really need a Federal program for that?
