Gas milage on a 2015~

Silverado,did a road trip last week heading west through north Dakota,buddy had a antelope tag for wyo and also a bear bow rep along for the ride with a new bear bow that just came out.

So,with the cruise set@ 75mph I was impessed that this powertrain with the 6.2lit engine and 8spd tranny was doing so well,and mind you the engine isn't broke in yet as you'll see...

Nice! My 2014 Sierra 5.3 V8 get's similar results when on interstate trips. My best 25 mile average was 35 MPG. Those were perfect conditions though (55 MPH with a strong tailwind). My tank averages are usually around 19-20 during the summer.

Were you running 91 octane?

Whats the average for the entire trip? I see on your picture thats just for the last 50 miles.

I had a 09 1500 w/ the 5.3 that would average 20-21 with the 6 spd tranny. I now have a 2012 same engine and tranny, but I'm lucky to ave 17. Not sure what the difference is, but it is frustrating that I know it should be getting better.

Seemed like the 09 had more power too. Swapped out the plugs and am religious on the oil changes, just haven't figured out what the difference is.

i agree what did it get for the whole trip? i can make my dirty max say i am averaging 29 mpg if i reset it and then go down a hill.

my dodge is about 4 mpg off shows 24 getting 19 or 20. I only believe when it is checked at the pump. I had a 08 Silverado 5.3 13 to 16 mpg was about it.

Yeah have that last 50 miles gauge in my work truck too. Just makes a guy feel better for a bit. I have the 5.3 and it says 22-23 all the time. Then look at the other overall gauge and it says 17 and I am not sure it gets that.

I have a 14 Silverado with the 5.3 6spd and normally get around 17.5. I drive about half highway and half in town on each tank. The best I've got was 20.5 all on the highway. That has been the actual mpg, the gauge on the dash doesn't seem to be too far off those numbers usually.

gone,I only burn 87% no need for higher octane and not recommended.,over all for the 3 days my avg was 22mpg,which included some city driving.Still impressed with this 6.2lit and 8spd tranny,I have 22" at wheels as well,I suspect better mpg's with std 18" wheels even tho I don't like the looks as well.Word is the 2016 1500 with front end new look/improvements will have this 8spd tranny.5.3 combo.

and hook a 4x8 utility trailer up to it and it'll get 13. I get a kick out of guys who brag about the mileage they get with their 1/2 ton pickups. Get a car if you want mileage.

Empty on my 6.7ltr stroker I get 21 mpg. Then when I hook the fifth wheel up it get a measly 11, and that's the purpose of owning my pickup.
Mrs johnr picked up an explorer sport, it has the eco boost v6, thing is a rocket, the mileage is 25 on the interstate so not to bad for the size of it.

I get 46mpg on the bike, that is what I take when I run to Bismarck for meetings and the weather allows.
Cage free rides are good for the soul, and turns out the environment too.

Hell ya,mpg's driving pickups is a big deal these days,not long ago driving my 1500 with a 5.3lit my avg was 15mpg,GM's v-6 with over 300hp will avg around 25mpg's,helps the pocket book.

Actually premium is recommended for the 6.2 motors. They have a slightly higher compression ratio compared the 5.3 (11.5:1 vs 11:1). You might pick up little MPG going to 91 which helps offset the higher cost of premium. I copied this section of my 2014 Sierra manual.

I like seeing my cost per mile get below 10 cents again.

For some reason, the cost of E85 jumped 30 cents here last week It was a good deal at 1.39 a gallon. Now I am back to E10. I should still be under 10 cents a mile with the E10 now that we can get it here for 2.14 a gallon.

I had that attitude initially until I hand figured mileage on 3 different pickups on a handful of occasions just to find out the computer was within 2 tenths every time.

My eco bum gas mileage thing is correct. 7.8mpg pulling boat in a 15mph wind. Yup
