My yard was looking pretty dingy, but thanks to the fresh layer of dark, black topsoil all I need is a good shot of rain and it'll be green as Trump's bank account!

Seriously though...Dust Bowl 2016 has commenced in Fargo. I actually saw black dirt blowing across the road like drifting snow in the winter.

We got a whopping .12 here in Bismarck. The forecast is up and down like a yoyo. NWS just upped the chances of rain here. We can just hope.

Did you happen to be driving by the airport? I know it was pretty bad there.

Not possible. We could never experience such a thing ever again. No till has fixed everything

espringers must be taking over plainsmans job here. :) Dump them Cheerios out man someone musta pissed in them.

Maybe if old Duck slayer had seeded his yard with a no till disk drill into standing wheat stubble.........just sayin in might not EVER prevent dust from blowing again if Ma Nature wants, but it would likely reduce the odds.;)

Uh...got one I can borrow? You'll need to work around my fence. And no, I'm not ripping out my tree row just to make it so you can nap longer in the cab without worrying about having to steer. :;:

Hasn't that been done? Or were the tree rows planted all those decades ago actually to beautify the landscape and not, in fact, to keep your topsoil from landing in the neighbor's casserole?

South of Fargo and east towards Kindred she was blowing to beat the band about three, four weeks ago. visibility was poor and ditches were filling in with dirt drifts , From a mile or two away I could see one field wasn't blowing , you could see all the way across it. When I got closer I saw the Farmer was out with a tractor and some sort of implement turning up wet soil so it wouldn't blow. Some areas there might be too many tree rows, but others not enough. A few years ago I saw 4 wd tractors with front dozer blades pushing blow dirt out of ditch and back out on the field, Ditches were full and level with the road west of Carrington.
