    Ice reports

I drove around Darling this afternoon. Checked Grano first. Although there were no people out when I went by, I can confirm that people were there within the last week. Then I drove by the dam and there were two portables set up just out from landing 1. Talked to one of the guys and was told...

    Lure Color Information

I agree with this statement. Also, with smallmouths, I've found that on a bright sunny day following days of stable weather, bright gawdy colors work best. They seem to key on those "loud" colors under those conditions. I've caught wallayes in the same areas on the same baits too. The opposite...

    Lure Color Information

With baitfish imitating lures, I like them to match the hatch but then still have some contrast to it by having a dark color along the back. For example, having a irredecent yet translucent body with a black back. So from a side profile, it looks very natural. But on the retrieve, the lure has...

Leasing Land to Hunt- Is it becoming the new normal?

I have hunted southern Pennsylvania and I can vouch for those numbers. I couldn't believe how many people are in the woods come gun season. Between that and the blatant poaching, I don't know how anyone can kill a deer over there.

    Ice reports

I also heard that there were guys on Darling fishing at Grano. I can't confirm this but I think I might drive up and take a look after work today. Will let you guys know what I see tomorrow.

Leasing Land to Hunt- Is it becoming the new normal?

To be honest, if I'm going to drop some money on a place to hunt, I'd rather pony up the money to go hunt for a trophy with some outfitter somewhere. Definitely cheaper in the long run.

Leasing Land to Hunt- Is it becoming the new normal?

I voted for the option that I would lease for a reasonable price. While I have never even attempted to lease any land, or needed to, it is a fairly common thing in my home state of OK. And its pretty much a way of life in TX. Luckily, there is a ton of public land in OK and high deer numbers so...

Do you want an NDA Ice Fishing Contest?

I'll play! Probably won't catch a walleye but I'm down for the bluegill and perch side of it! On a side note, its my last winter here and I'm in the process of getting rid of all of my ice fishing stuff. already sold off the rods and tackle. Anyone want to take me out for a day on the ice? I...

    Largemouth in Cast Iron

I've fished for bass my whole life but have only ate them a handful of times. Always out of warm water since the water never really gets all that cold in Oklahoma. I've never noticed any unpleasant taste to it. I'd prefer walleye over it though.

    Navionics question

I have a Navionics + chip and it lets me download any lake that I want in the US (and I believe Canada as well). However, I can't go over 4 GB, which is a crap ton of lakes. For example, I have all of ND, about 25% of SD, 25% of MT, and a number of random lakes throughout the US and I'm still...

Fishing---Why is XXX species your favorite?

I have seen the football weight that you mentioned a few times. Not sure that I've seen a name for it so I think the West Virginia 7 should fit. - - - Updated - - - I've found myself to be quite the bluegill fan since I moved to ND. When I realized how big they are at Metigoshe and a number...

Fishing---Why is XXX species your favorite?

I haven't kept any bass in 5 or so years. I think white bass taste fine but not as good as many other species. I think largemouth and smallmouth are OK but nothing to write home about.

Fishing---Why is XXX species your favorite?

In Oklahoma, white bass (or sand bass as we call them) are our state fish. Just like pike up here, they were in every little mud hole you could find. Nearly everyone eats them back home. I was surprised to move up here and find that nobody eats them.

Stolen Trail Camera - What to do?

I've always left my stands and cameras on public land for most of the season. I lock everything but that only deters the honest hunters. Only once have I had an issue. In Oklahoma, during the muzzle loader season, someone tried to steal my camera. It was locked so he decided to shoot it instead...
