    500,000 acre habitat program

how many people would i have to let hunt? Can it be friends and family? Would it have to be wide open? Would the landowners around me for lets say 3 miles have to open up all of their land to hunting since we all know wildlife travel. This is where the argument about public money and private...

    500,000 acre habitat program

The thing I don't like about this program and most of the other programs is they only apply to cropland and not enhancing all habitat. I am biased with that i'm sure. I'll use my example. I have a 20 acre chunk of pasture that i fenced off to plant trees on and i put a couple food plots in. It...

    Montana to cut deer tags

I agree with that. It always amazed me that it was so easy to get a combo tag out there as a non resident. It was only a matter of time before all good things come to an end and reducing non resident tags wouldn’t be a bad thing. I would love to see no “b” tags in the area I hunt for a few years...

    Montana to cut deer tags

The area we hunted in montana wasn't really rugged ground just a mix of farmland, hayland, and pasture land. Not a whole lot different than what we have in many areas of north dakota. The difference was their deer herd was mostly mule deer with the occasional whitetail and another thing i...

    Montana to cut deer tags

I don't think it will do much overall but the reduction in their deer B licenses is where the differences will be made i feel. From their deer b drawing statistics for the 600 units which i think is the NE part of the state They have dropped tags dramatically. 2020: 9,800 2021: 14,100 2022...

    Montana to cut deer tags

As far as montana cutting tags the last time i was in eastern montana hunting deer was 2 years ago. I had been going out there for 5 years before that i think. Each year there was some fluctuation on the deer we seen but two years ago was the worst. Buck quality is absolutely terrible in the...

    Montana to cut deer tags

I've had some good luck with our local chapter of pheasants forever too, they have chipped in some when i asked for habitat projects and things like that. They are handcuffed some by the organization on what they can spend their money on though i believe.

    Montana to cut deer tags

Habitat loss needs to be addressed but blaming everyone else does no good is what I wanted my point to be. I enjoy hunting and wildlife. I’ve taken out loans from my 401k, financially struggled, sacrificed nice things to afford to buy some land and then dumped thousands of dollars and time and...

    Montana to cut deer tags

I should also mention it’s not the farmers in a my area and lots of other places driving up the land values. It’s lawyers and doctors and oil money along with out of state groups. Sacrifices have to be made to compete in the land ownership world for normal people.

    Montana to cut deer tags

How many people on here that are complaining about deer numbers have done anything to help. How many people applied for a doe tag this year and didn't hunt just so someone else didn't shoot a doe. All i see from most fellow sportsman is complaining, no action. Thats not everyone and i've met...

    Flip-Over Shack & Diesel Heater

I bought two of the vevor 8kw heaters last year for animal pen heaters if i needed them and never opened them. Finally fired them up the other day to test them. I'm hoping i can get by with using one in my eskimo 850. I will bring the buddy heater with if i need a boost. I ordered a 100ah...

    Latest HR satellite images

google street view in my area was updated earlier this year. Their satellite imagery is lacking though. I usually bounce between google earth and the ND GIS Hub for aerial imagery but i've been using apple maps some lately just because they are the most recent.

    Latest HR satellite images

Apple Maps was updated about mid year 2024 i think but not near the features of google earth or ability to zoom in as well. Other than that I haven't found anything more recent.

    Bad News - Ash Borer

I tried a few different zone 4 hardy oaks in my pasture but ran out of time to really take care of them so all they had for help was tree tubes. None of them made it. The black walnuts also struggle with grass competition and lack of care it seems. My tall deciduous trees the soil conservation...
