    Tree row rehabilitation?

One thing I’ve been doing with the single trees and small rows I’ve been hand planting around the farm is putting a fabric square down and then an old tire on top. Helps keeping me from getting close to the tree with weed eaters and tillers and such and holds the fabric down nice. I will have to...

    Tree row rehabilitation?

I don't water any of my tree rows, i don't have the time or the setup to do it. With that said, my junipers and cedars that the soil conservation planted look better after a couple of years than the ones i hand planted with no fabric do after a decade. Caraganas grow fast and seem to do well...

    African Exotics in Texas

I struggle with what is considered a high fence hunt. Some of these extremely large ranches are probably more sporting than many of us who shoot a whitetail over a bait pile or over a cornfield. I am planning on going after oryx on ted turners ranch in new mexico next year. Not high fence but...

    Mid winter blues...

I usually do a lot of reloading during the winter but this year has been slow for me. I'm cleaning out our old farm house that the mice got into the basement and bought a small JD1050 tractor for yard work that i'm trying to make into exactly what i want it to be. Put a Pat's quick hitch on the...

Drew A New Mexico Oryx Tag

Thanks everyone. The 175 lrx performed really well. It went through the heavy bone on the entrance and lighter shoulder on the exit. I had bought the Leica geovid pros but didn’t use the rangefinder much on this hunt as I let the guide do most of that. I did use them on my mule deer hunt in...

Drew A New Mexico Oryx Tag

Filled my oryx tag late on the second day of the hunt. My hunt got moved to Rhodes Canyon due to military operations on Stallion Range. The oryx have been getting pressured hard and this caused a back to back hunt at Rhodes Canyon. I hired an outfitter for this hunt and I’m glad I did. The guide...

Price of land just keeps going

I've used the outdoor heritage fund for a few different plantings and some of the other cost share programs as well. The replant, herbicide, and other maintenance costs add up to more than the original plantings. I originally started planting trees just sticking them in the ground without fabric...

Price of land just keeps going

The sweat equity and future vision is where people fail a lot I feel and you won't find land that pays for itself with rent or everyone would be buying it. I always struggled with the high down payment they wanted to purchase land as a kid out of college i didn't have the down payment or the...

    ND PSC Denies Summit pipeline

I know from my standpoint I never had an issue with pipelines and didn't have much of an issue with this pipeline other than the people pushing it through have seemed to go about it in the wrong ways by being pushy towards landowners and maybe not doing the best job of raising support for it or...

    300 Win Mag 180 gr

I haven't had a chance to load them yet but i picked up some barnes 175 LRX for my win mag. Scheels had them in stock so it was an easy choice to try them. I also grabbed 8lbs of 4831sc for it.

    Reloading question

I think it would average out to ten pounds of Reloader 13 but if you add the proper amount of 2400 or BE-86 to it you might be able to get it to average out to reloader 26.
