We have 11 Partridge in the yard now. There were 14 a week ago. A Horned Owl has moved in and has taken 3 of them. The winter of 2022/2023 we also had about 15 and a Horned Owl moved in. And in a 3 week span there were only 3 left. I like keeping them around. I was pushing snow this morning and has soon as the grass was exposed and I put my 6x6 away they were feeding in the grass.

I wonder if owls would shoot us if we were hungry and swooped down on some partridge for a meal.

I mean owls are just doing what owls do. It's not really the owl's fault.

"We" like to shoot game birds so they're automatically more important and SSS is what the owl's get right?

Sounds about par for the course....they aren't federally protected or anything.

That's protecting your livelihood. Not to mention coyotes aren't protected.

I knew someone would try and stretch that.

In the 60s-80s we had ruffed grouse in the Turtle Mountains and now they are far and few between but the Sharptails moved in and we didn't have them back then.
