They will tear an infant or small child up if parents don't pay attention. It's heartbreaking to look at what those little bastages will do. Rash doesn't even come close to the sores they cause when they tear open skin. I've seen it happen in homes that leave windows/doors open in the fall to enjoy the cool weather or in trailers that are a bit more porous in their constuction. They are looking for moisture, which is why they bite people. They will steadily get worse in homes until the first hard frost. Then they taper off. They are NOT my favorite beetle to say the least. Stay Safe!!!!
Thanks, very interesting. I have been bitten twice. First time about 2 1/2 weeks ago. That was discomfort for about two weeks. Of course it was in a spot where I opened up about every other day. Practicing my 18th century medical skills. Today the wife does NOT want me to cut it open with my Jack knife. It is itchy and annoying. Just using benadryl itch cream so far.

Any thoughts or advice will be appreciated.

Sounds like you're reacting to their saliva much like a mosquito bite. You are doing what I would do. Sorry Bud!!

Cover the application with a band-aid. I woke up last June with a spider bite on my inner wrist. This helped a great deal with the swelling and stopped the "red circle" from getting larger than a dime. It shrunk back to the wound in about two days. It's essentially now healed but there's still a rough patch of skin on top. Spiders give me the creeps so this 1st time event was extra special. Zero pain or itch(?)--just two fang marks.

I didn't realize a damn thing until I saw the "red spot" one day in the shower. I noticed it again two days later and it was much bigger: Fucking spiders. The place gets monthly extermination: Spiders aren't affected unless directly sprayed: Fucking spiders, wasps and hornets.

Please let me/us know if this^^^^ helps/otherwise. It's sort of the same thing as "bass fishing for walleye".

That is all.

Checked 2 drug stores here in the Grand Cities had to use Amazon. I will let you know. 3 bites in shoulder that were under my shirt. You can definitely feel it when they bite.
Right know I am using the cut squeeze method.

Try some Zyrtec for the itch and swelling. It helped me with the gnat bites to my face. LB

Related: if you have trouble with gnats to the face....put some vanilla on your neck or face.
