    Happy Birthday Gunnar

Damn these stories are hard to read with tears in your eyes.

    Daylight saving time

How about moving the clock ahead, or back, 12 hours. Then it would be light when it's supposed to be dark. We could work in the dark and have light to enjoy our other activities.

    Moosey

Don't think about a single hunt as being "once in a lifetime." It might be and then it might be so much fun that you want to do it again. The first elk hunt I went on my wife called it a "once in a lifetime" so she was OK with it. After the hunt we were talking about how much I enjoyed the hunt...

New Pole Barn is Up - Lighting Suggestions/Options Needed

Is the barn going to be heated? If not, does this affect any of the lights you're looking at? There is such a thing as too much light, but not sure I've ever seen too much in a barn/shop/arena.

    Moosey

Never been on a guided moose hunt but do understand what you are looking for. I've been on guided elk hunts and have the same issues as you when you reach a certain age. When I was younger a DIY hunt would have been enjoyable. Now there is a reason I like guided hunts. Good meals are all...

    Favorite cold or flu symptom

It's not polite to laugh at another's pain and anguish but damn, some of these are funny.

    Squirrels

THE IMPORTANCE OF PUNCTUATION! At first I wondered why you would put a cottontail skin in the crockpot with the squirrel. Then realized there should have been a comma between the two. Then the recipe sounded much better. Have never eaten squirrel but have eaten cottontail and have heard they...

    Paid off

I don't understand those who seem to think there should be no property tax. It's OK to think you pay too much, but with no property tax who would maintain your roads, provide fire protection, police, and any of the other things that you expect the county, city, or township to take care of...

    Paid off

I know the feeling. I never minded debt as long as it was reasonable and I could see light at the end of the tunnel. Every payment was progress and never missed a payment.

Oklahoma monster buck - will this be the new record ???

Not as wide as the Hanson buck by the pictures. Width isn't much on the measurements but it generally also loose main beam length. World record or not what a gorgeous buck. If any of us would pass on this buck how would we ever pass a background check on mental stability?

    pass or tag?

Lots of opinions on to shoot or not, all of them valid. It comes down to what you want out of the hunt. Last fall I had one of the coveted ND Antlered Mule Deer tags. Hunted 8 or 9 days of the season and the last weekend found a decent (not going on the wall but a nice 4X4). Decided to shoot it...

Saw The First Rut Behavior Today

Agreed. And that's the problem with statistics, it explains a wide probability of what can happen, but never proves it will actually be that way. Amazing how often polls and statistics are used by the news media as proof. Had a college professor tell us in a Statistics class many years ago...

SCI - New ND Chapter Meeting in Fargo

From what I know about SCI it's a great organization for the outdoor people. Not sure I could have made it to Fargo with a month's notice but hearing about the meeting a day before assures I won't make it. For the organizers it might be interesting to have more meeting throughout the state...

    Drain Sakakawea

The cycle continues. When you have lots of water, nobody wants it, when water is short, everybody wants it.

    pass or tag?

Quite honestly, that's not even a giant in ND. Barely comes out to his ears which puts him in the 21" category. Definitely no back fork on the left and maybe not even on the right. If you want to shoot a big one, pass. If you just want to shoot a deer, pull the trigger.

    Buying pork fat in Minot?

I agree that trimmings are much cheaper than pork butts. At times I have had trouble grinding trimmings as there is a tendency to have more sinew and such that can clog the grinder. I have a 1.5hp grinder so power is not the problem. It's an individual choice but I do like the convenience of...

    Snorkel Gear

At the cost it makes sense to buy instead of rent. The problem is listed above in the pain of bringing them along. Don't know of anyone who goes to Hawaii to save money. At the end of the trip an extra $100 or so isn't going to make much difference. Make your trip fun and eliminate any extra you...

    Buying pork fat in Minot?

^^^^^ Pork fat is no good for you. That's why you are much better off using pork TRIMMINGS. Just trying to help keep us all healthy.

    Ultimate whitetail buck rescue

Not sure I want to be sitting on a big bull when he gets loose. Might be the ultimate rodeo. Those horns can reach a long way back. Good of these 2 young guys doing a service to the deer.

    One last hunt

Don't personally know you or your dog and things like this still bring a tear to my eyes. Sorry to hear this.
