    From a safety standpoint, a helmet is never a bad idea. At the very least, a good facemask and some anti-fog ski goggles come in handy. Really comes down to your view on safety vs simplicity and cost.

    The fiber optic front sight on some of the newer guns covers up most of the deer at anything over 100 yards. Either find a smaller front sight, or put a 1x scope on. Or use a larger power scope with detachable rings...

    I just found a few well written reviews, so I think I'll get one ordered tonight. I'd really like to try the 5-20 HD with the illuminated reticle, but even with the sale I can't spend that kind of money right now.

    I'm torn between the 3-15 classic and the 5-20 HD. The 3-15 is $300 off right now, so I guess I could always turn around and sell it if it doesn't do what I want. My main concern with the classic is the glass quality in low light conditions in hunting scenarios.
