    Eastern ND/MN Smallie Advice

How much does your boat draw? Usually August has reduced current but there is plenty of depth between Faust Park and Valley City and both have gravel launch ramps. There is a launch point a half mile below Baldhill Dam too. There are a lot of kayakers that do CR for smallies on the river.

    Training pigeons

My neighbor raised barn pigeons in an old chicken coop. They could come and go as they pleased, he just liked them around. I'd catch them in a fishnet, take them a half mile out and put them in a toe trap. When the pup pointed I'd spring the trap and fire a blank. The pigeon would go up, circle...

Bill Gates’ purchase of North Dakota farmland has locals livid

Lots of businesses and landowners didn't get their accounts squared up from the previous owner. If anybody should be "livid" its them. https://www.agweek.com/news/high-value-north-dakota-farm-liquidates

    Deer Ticks/ND?

I have been using Bravecto chewables the last 2 years. It doesn't repel ticks but does kill them if they attach. Takes fleas and worms too. Seresto has a lot of imposter knockoffs on the web. There is a page posted up on the net how to check for the difference.

    Bird Flu

Looks like an osprey. There was one farther north along the river that hung around for a week, cool to watch him dive. I found 4 more dead snows behind the house last night. I'm hoping these geese move out as there is a pair of swans that are going to nest here and I'd like to see them make it.

Reccomend a roofer in the FM area

I had Northstar Roofing out of Enderlin some years back. They did it in a short day & half and the cleanup on the ground was excellent. I think they probably work the Fargo area.

    Getting Started Trolling Cranks

Great topic. I'd like to get back to deep trolling cranks also. By sheer accident the biggest walleye I caught was on a slow trip with BB/spinners. Replaced the spinner with a 4' leader and a metallic blue rattling rap. It was the only fish we hit that night. I just watched a vid where a guy on...

    April Blizzard Predicted next week

I think that was around Christmas of '74? I was feeding the neighbors cows as well my own and everything froze up. The snow under the drifted dirt was still banked up in the trees at the end of June.

    M-14

We shot the M-14 in boot camp and ITR. Five positions at the range from 200 to 500 meters. The only ones I saw in VN were carried by the spotter in the scout-sniper teams. The 14 was for targets out to 500 meters and the big rifle past that. If I remember right it weighed like 9 lbs without the...

Winter is sure wearing on the deer!

Yes, I'm still seeing roosters but very few hens. I think they took the winter hard.
